Last week, we highlighted what you can do for free on the new Disney Genie service. Some portions of the service, labeled under Disney Genie+, require a $15 subscription per person each day at Walt Disney World® Resort and $20 for Disneyland® Resort.
Built into the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps, guests can complete their purchase right from in the apps they have been using to access theme parks.
Disney Genie+ is optional, and is the primary FastPass+ and MaxPass replacement. As of its launch, it includes Lightning Lane access—the name of that replacement—for 46 attractions (two are currently excluded from this list in each park, and can be purchased separately with or without Disney Genie+).
Guests can make one reservation at a time with Disney Genie+, and can make their first reservation beginning at 7 a.m. that day. Gone are the days of booking your FastPass+ selections months out; guests book all Lightning Lane selections the day they plan to use them. Once either the arrival window has passed or the Lightning Lane pass has been redeemed, guests are able to make another selection.
Selections can be made at different parks for those who have ParkHopper options, meaning, depending on availability, it is possible to have a Lightning Lane booking available as soon as guests enter their second, third or fourth park in a day.
Disney Genie+ is good to use each day until park close, and there is no limit to how many Lightning Lane accesses can be booked, so long as the previous requirements are met. Attractions do typically give guests a choice when selecting return times, making that part of the experience as customizable—based on availability—as FastPass+ was.
Disney Genie+ at Walt Disney World Resort also includes special audio experiences and augmented reality photo lenses. At Disneyland Resort, the uncharged Disney Genie+ comes with PhotoPass access.
