What can you do with the free version of Disney Genie?

Disney Genie ©Disney

The new Disney+ feature on the My Disney Experience app for Walt Disney World® Resort is Disney's successor to FastPass+, which adds on additional features to the usual experience. But before paying for the additional add-ons, guests have access to a number of free experiences that can help assist with on-site activities and make park days easier to navigate.

The Tip Board

Perhaps Genie's best feature, this presents attraction wait times, showtimes and dining options all in one convenient place, allowing guests to get a detailed overview of the selected park both at that exact moment and for later in the day. It prioritizes favorites selected by each guest, so it is personalized, but its clean organization makes for easy navigation of various options normally split throughout the My Disney Experience app.

My Day

Based on preferences you select when setting up Disney Genie, the app will give you a suggested itinerary. This does not have to be followed, but with combined with the tools travel advisors give their client, it can be an especially powerful tool to help adjust guests' plans to how the parks are changing in real-time. My Day offers bonus features—like audio stories—that can help guests who are interested immerse themselves further in the lore and history of their favorite parks.

Suggestions

Notifications can be sent to guests' phones throughout the day to help guide them to their pre-selected favorites based on how they change throughout the day. It helps give the same adaptability that My Day does while not requiring guests to spend every second checking their phones for the next task, and rather helps point to their favorites as they become more available.

Lightning Lane Option

The Lightning Lane options a la carte do not require the daily Genie+ subscription to purchase. Thus, guests just wanting to make individual purchases for any of the two attractions in each park that offer this option can do so without paying the subscription for the others. Though no attractions offer Lightning Lane selections for free, one type of Lightning Lane purchase is not required to use the other.

Lightning Lane access for the rest of Walt Disney World Resort's attractions and special Disney PhotoPass features are available with Genie+, which will cost guests $15 a day at Walt Disney World Resort.
