Walt Disney World continues its push for environmentalism with reusable shopping bags

Updated: May 16

In 2018, Disney announced that by mid-2019, it would get rid of all single-use plastic straws and stirrers at all of their locations around the world. At the time, it was estimated that Disney would eliminate over 175 million straws and 13 stirrers.

The company is now continuing the environment-friendly trend with another method it introduced at the end of 2018. Originally, a set of reusable shopping bags were brought into some of Walt Disney World® Resort’s shops, but now they’re available at every location on property.

Eighty percent of the bags are made of recycled materials, each one sporting a design based on the store’s location. Each bag ranges from $1 to $2 depending on which of the three sizes are purchased. The reusable bags are compact enough to stow away in a backpack for the day and not take up much room, but the regular plastic bags are still available.
