Your 2024 guide to Disney's virtual queue

Walt Disney World® Resort redesigned its virtual queue system over the years, and it is still in place for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and for Tron: Lightcycle / Run.

Guests can also ride both attractions by purchasing individual Lightning Lane. We recommend doing this first-thing in the morning, as just like virtual queue, these are limited in quantity and there is no way to acquire more after the daily allotment has run out.

Virtual queue passes for both attractions open at 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. for all guests, so everyone has two opportunities to earn one, but your best guarantee to ride the attraction is to get a pass in the morning. If you land one of the end-of-day passes, it is possible your boarding group will not be called.

An additional opportunity will open at 6 p.m. on select park days when extended evening hours are offered.

The 7 a.m. Queue

In order to get a pass at 7 a.m., you must have a park reservation that day for either Magic Kingdom Park® or EPCOT®. Log on early to the Disney World mobile app—we generally recommend around 6:55 a.m. so as not to miss the pass opening time slot—and scroll down the home screen to where it indicates you can request access to virtual queues. You can select all of your riding party—anyone with a Magic Kingdom Park reservation that day is selectable—before the booking window opens.

Wait there once you have selected your party, as a refresh button at the bottom of the screen will be grayed out until the clock strikes seven. As soon as it does, the button will turn blue, and you can either click that or drag your screen downward to refresh the page and make the button for selecting the virtual queue appear.

Simply click that button, and your pre-selected party will be awarded a spot in the virtual queue, should there be any availability. Once the clock hits seven, the whole process should only take a few seconds.

The 1 p.m. Queue

The process works the same for 1 p.m., though your entire party must be in the park in order to participate. Previously, park hopping was not available until 2 p.m., meaning you had to start in the park where you wanted to participate in the virtual queue. With time restrictions for park hopping lifted, this is no longer the case as long as you are in the necessary park before 1 p.m.

The 6 p.m. Queue

Unlike the 1 p.m. queue time, eligible guests do not need to be in Magic Kingdom® Park at 6 p.m. to attempt to get a pass. Otherwise, this works the same as the other queue times. You must have admission to the park's after hours event to be eligible.

Tips & Tricks

Though you may see a dozen or more tricks around the internet, it ultimately comes down to timing: the fastest guests will get spots in the virtual queue first. We do recommend turning wifi off and going to cellular data just for the sake of guaranteed quickness. You should only have one guest in the party attempt to get a pass for everyone rather than have multiple people in the party attempt at once. Otherwise, you simply have to be prepared and be quick.

Be sure to leave app notifications on for My Disney Experience, as it will notify you when your boarding group is called. Though you can track the approximate time of your boarding group under the virtual queue button on the app's last tab, the entire party is given a one-hour window to ride after being called. It is best to be notified over having to constantly check and miss your opportunity after getting a pass.

If you experience technical errors while queuing, where only part of your party was selectable, for example, go to guest services upon arriving at the park.
