What you need to know for Universal's 2022 Mardi Gras

Updated: May 20

Universal Orlando Resort's Mardi Gras celebrations have long been one of its best, fully featured events, and 2022's celebrations look to be no different. Similarly to its holiday celebrations this year, Universal is combining the best of 2020's events with returning fan-favorites that took some time off due to COVID-19 restrictions. This year's event is set to take place from Feb. 5-April 24, 2022.

Food Booths

No 2022 theme park event is complete without various food booths serving dishes inspired by locations around the world. The 2021 event had an incredibly robust (and delicious) selection, and 2022 seems to be following a similar cadence. In an event with plenty to do—extending already full theme park days—the food is certain to be a highlight for yet another year. The previous Mardi Gras event saw a dramatically expanded list of food offerings, and though the menus have yet to be revealed for 2022, it looks like that increased number is here to stay.

Parades

No Mardi Gras is complete without parades and beads, and Universal's is as close to an authentic experience as can be created within the boundaries of a theme park. Though the 2021 event saw parade flows stationed motionless throughout the park, their bead-throwers will be mobile once again as they take the park streets in a parade.

Concerts

Universal's Mardi Gras concert series has had some serious, heavyweight headliners in the past like The Roots, Kool & the Gang, TLC and many, many more. The concerts are back after a hiatus, and though the lineup will be revealed at a later date, it should be fully loaded with recognizable stars.
