What to do outside the Universal Orlando Resort theme parks

Updated: May 16

Universal Orlando Resort is known for its rides and attractions, but it has a host of other entertainment options off-site from the theme parks to make for a full vacation experience.

CityWalk

Out-of-park experiences would not be complete without mention of CityWalk. This shopping and dining district features a robust nightlife that accounts for a unique downtown-like experience not available at almost any other theme park in the world. As the connection between the two theme parks at Universal Orlando Resort, CityWalk is the perfect easy-access break from the parks. There is still enough to do to make for a majority of a day's plan, especially if you plan on dining.

Minigolf

Universal offers two themed mini golf courses: Invaders from Planet Putt and Hollywood Drive-In Golf. With 18 holes starting at $15.99 for ages 3-9 and $17.99 for adults (with it costing $3 less to add on the full second golf course), it is one of the more affordable activities to do in the area (outside of seeing a movie at CityWalk).

Concerts

The Hard Rock Hotel hosts one of Orlando’s premium concert venues. Though in the last Universal has brought musicians and bands into the parks for performances, many big-name artists stop on tour right within CityWalk’s boundaries.
