What is happening to the old Star Wars attractions when Galaxy’s Edge opens?

With the announcement that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is set to open in Disneyland® Resort on May 31 and in Walt Disney World® Resort on Aug. 29, new attractions will soon be on the way.

The addition of new attractions Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run on opening day and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance later in the year makes it natural to wonder what might be the fate of current Star Wars attractions in Disney’s Hollywood Studios®. Fortunately, they are not going anywhere.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Star Wars Launch Bay, Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular and Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away will continue to operate as normal, serving as a taste for what lies inside Galaxy’s Edge, while giving fans a way to celebrate their favorite content of the films.

Most of what is set to be found inside of the new land is new content. There are new characters, new lore and new storylines, so cutting what is currently in the park would mean getting rid of the theme park’s biggest direct connection to the films.

Luckily, those attractions are here to stay for the time being, meaning Galaxy’s Edge will further extend the park and add to what’s already in place.
