What exactly is KiteTails?—Our guide to the newest Disney's Animal Kingdom show

Disney KiteTails is a small-scale kite show on the Discovery River Theater at Disney's Animal Kingdom®. At a quick 10-minute runtime, the shows sees performers drive on jet skis across the river while flying enormous kites across the park skyline.

When to See It

Performers in the theater seating get children involved in the pre-show, so it is best to line up outside the theater 10-15 minutes early if you have younger guests in your party. In part due to the frequency of the show and the vast availability of seating at the theater, KiteTails does not require the same amount of wait time as the nighttime spectaculars.

Disney lists showtimes at 11:15, 12:15, 1:15, 3:15, 4:15 and 5:15, but some of the later showtimes have been cancelled lately due to unforeseen circumstances as Disney continues to iron out technical complications from the show.

Thus, if you plan on seeing the show, especially early on during Walt Disney World® Resort's 50th anniversary celebration, it is best to aim for one of the earlier showtimes.

Where to See It

There are a few entrances to the theater, but cast members have directly recommended seeing the show through the entrance near Dinoland, U.S.A. As with the show requiring only a few minutes of lead-in time before seeing it, all seating in that section will likely rarely fill to capacity. If you are seeing the show, enter the theater near Dinoland, U.S.A.
