Walt Disney World® will look a little different this holiday season due to social distancing guidelines and other changes continuing around property this year. Though this season won’t bring the famous lights to Cinderella Castle or the gingerbread displays to resort hotels. As is Disney tradition, the company brings opportunity in absence, delivering unique opportunities beginning Nov. 6.
Castle Projections Cinderella Castle looks to make use of one of its most prominent features: projections. Images will cover the entirety of the castle as dark falls, bringing the holiday atmosphere the park’s centerpiece.
Cavalcades and Flotillas The processions, cavalcades and floats parading through the parks now will get a holiday makeover. These contained parades, boasting a wide array of characters, is one of the highlights to Disney’s COVID-focused changes.
Hotel Decorations The towering trees are returning to resort hotels, still bringing the classic Christmas decor to lobbies and resort hotel entrances.
Disney Springs Christmas trees will be spread across the Disney Springs property, with an occasional snowfall in each of its areas bringing additional magic only available in concentrated regions previously. It is the most widespread the holidays at Disney Springs have been, and is topped with the Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar makeover.
Epcot® International Festival of the Holidays Highlights from this annual festival will make a return on Nov. 27. It will be joined by a new program, JOYFUL!, taking place inside the World ShowPlace. A celebration of gospel, R&B, traditional and contemporary Christmas music, it will join Voices of Liberty’s performances at the America Gardens Theatre stage for a wider set of festivities surrounding holiday music.
