The Disney Skyliner is on its way in September

Updated: May 16

After a bit of speculation and the official reveal in 2017, the all-new Disney Skyler is scheduled to begin operations on Sep. 29, 2019.

With crowds expected to grow across property in the near future for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edgeand Magic Kingdom® Park’s 50th anniversary, additional transportation options are a godsend. With the recent expansions to Disney’s Hollywood Studios® and the upcoming overhaul to Epcot®, it is an even greater addition that the gondola system will be focus around those two parks and their resort hotels.

Their design should help boost Disney’s colorful aesthetic across property, too, as their bright cabins will feature character decals much like monorails and busses sometimes have. Characters include Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Chip & Dale, Goofy, Pete, Horance Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow, and include others from Coco, Finding Dory, Haunted Mansion, Monsters, Inc., Ratatouilleand Pirates of the Caribbean.

Moving in a nonstop motion, the gondolas should help alleviate traffic for those waiting at bus stops and trying the Disney Skyliner for the first time. There are options for those with physical impairments who cannot hop onto the moving vehicles, so everyone will have an opportunity to experience Disney’s new transportation.
