Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is EPCOT®'s newest attraction. It's set to open later this year, but we were fortunate enough to get a spot in early testing. Though finishing touches may still be due before opening, we left incredibly impressed and excited for the full opening.
We'll keep our review light on spoilers, for we feel this is an attraction best experienced by surprise for the first time. However, it was far more intractable than we expected, with almost every inch of this walkthrough attraction providing something to play with. Each display did something our party thought was both technically impressive and fun to interact with, and we think this will land as one of the must-do attractions for families and children.
The attraction provides both dry and wet paths for those who want to avoid the water entirely. We will note that we took the wet paths exclusively and did not get wet whatsoever—there's nothing here that sprays or splashes you with water—but those who are sensitive to the idea can avoid it entirely. It is an impressive bit of accessibility from Disney.
The attraction continues the welcome trend of an older EPCOT, fusing education with the excitement of the latest in Disney innovations. Signs posted around the attraction mimic what you might expect in a zoo, chronicling the literal journey of water through various ecosystems and waterways.
The attraction is divided into various themed areas that segment the idea further, and the way imagineers have interpreted water's journey through each of the intractable areas is quite clever and entertaining to engage with. There is quite a bit to see and do in the attraction's winding space, and the Moana-themed visuals interwoven about makes for a visually stunning scavenger hunt that is certain to hold up to multiple visits.
