Explaining the all-new Lightning Lane: How it replaces Disney Genie+

Many guests spend time—on their own or with their travel advisor—planning their Disney vacation long before it ever starts. Disney Genie+ made guests reserve their Lightning Lane selections the morning of their trip, but due to guest feedback, that service is being removed in favor of something that allows for advanced planning.

Beginning July 24, 2024, Disney Genie+ service will become Lightning Lane Multi Pass, while individual Lightning Lane will now be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass for both Walt Disney World© Resort and Disneyland© Resort.

And you can now:

  • Make Lightning Lane plans before you arrive

  • Choose your experiences and times prior to purchasing

  • Book Lightning Lane passes for multiple vacation days, all in a single day

Lightning Lane Multi Pass

With Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you may make up to 3 Lightning Lane selections in a theme park, in advance of your visit.

On the day of your visit, once you use a selection, check the My Disney Experience app for availability to make an additional selection.

Lightning Lane Single Pass

Lightning Lane Single Pass will continue to work similarly as it does now. You'll select a time to ride one of the most highly demanded attractions as per usual, though now you’ll be able to purchase and plan in advance.

When You Can Book

Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel and other select hotels will be able to plan Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance, for their entire stay (up to 14 days). All other guests can plan up to 3 days in advance.

Guests may purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, a Lightning Lane Single Pass or both, and the My Disney Experience app will be updated to make doing so quicker and easier.
