All the theme park announcements from D23 2019

The once-every-two-years D23 Expo is the centerpiece of Disney’s major announcements, and this year proved to be no exception. Among this year’s new announcements were a load of new reveals about the parks and resorts.

Here’s a recap of it all:

Disney Cruise Line

  1. The fifth ship in Disney’s fleet was named the Disney Wish

  2. Rapunzel will be the stern character

  3. Set to be delivered in 2021, and set sail in 2022

  4. Lighthouse Point, a new Disney port of call located on the island Eleuthera in the Bahamas, was announced

Hong Kong Disneyland

  1. Two new Frozen-themed attractions, the Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs coaster and Epcot®’s Frozen Ever After were announced

  2. The castle is being reimagined to the Castle of Magical Dreams, and will feature a new daytime show, a new nighttime spectacular and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Shanghai Disney Resort

  1. Zootopia-themed land will have exclusive dining, entertainment and merchandise

Disneyland Resort®

  1. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, scheduled to open in Mickey’s Toontown in 2022, had its building revealed

  2. A new parade, entitled Magic Happens, is scheduled to debut in spring of 2020

  3. Avenger’s Campus, the Marvel-themed land, will feature a new E-Ticket attraction where guests will join the Avengers on a flight to Wakanda

  4. Disney’s first Spider-Man ride-through attraction is scheduled to open in Avengers Campus during 2020

  5. A new dining location, Pym Test Kitchen, was revealed for Avengers Campus

  6. Ant-Man and the Wasp can be met for the first time in Avengers Campus

Walt Disney World® Resort

  1. The Star Wars resort hotel will be called Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

  2. This resort, a first-of-its-kind experience, will take place over two days and two nights, and will see guests board a ship called the Halcyonand become characters within the Star Wars Universe

  3. Guests of all ages will have the opportunity to train with lightsabers, just as Luke Skywalker once did

  4. Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge, is the new resort hotel being built where Disney’s River Country once stood

  5. It is currently being proposed as a DVC resort

  6. It is set to contain a Princess and the Frog restaurant

  7. Disney Genie, a new planning app, is set to debut in late 2020, and will have additional features for guests who book with travel agents

  8. HarmonioUShas been announced to be the new nighttime spectacular following Epcot® Forever, and will focus on how Disney’s music connects people around the world

  9. Epcot®will be reorganized into four separate neighborhoods

  10. World Showcase will feature the first-ever Mary Poppins attraction

  11. In the France pavilion, the new Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along is scheduled to open January 2020, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is scheduled for summer 2020

  12. La Crêperie de Paris, a new restaurant, is also scheduled for the pavilion

  13. Two new films, Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360and Wonderous Chinaare set to debut in World Showcase, with the former scheduled for January 2020

  14. Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana” is set to come to Epcot®as a walkthrough attraction

  15. Awesome Planet, the Land pavilion’s new film, is set to debut in January 2020

  16. The interactive PLAY! pavilion is scheduled to open for Walt Disney World® Resort’s 50th anniversary

  17. Space 220, the new restaurant that serves as an expansion to Mission: SPACE®Attraction’s pavilion, is scheduled to open this winter

  18. Epcot®’snew coaster, featuring a reverse launch, has been titled Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

  19. A three-level building is being constructed as Epcot®’s new festival center

  20. Walt Disney will get a new statue inEpcot®

  21. Along with new scenes, Spaceship Earth will receive a new narrator

  22. A new Cirque du Solei show is set to premiere April 17, 2020, and will feature a collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney Animation Studios

  23. Previews are scheduled to begin March 20, 2020
