Parades and close-up character meets return to Universal Orlando Resort

Updated: May 16

Universal Orlando Resort has just brought back its Superstar Parade and has gotten guests closer to meeting its characters than it has since the onset of COVID-19. This all comes on the heels of increased capacity and the reopening of all Universal Orlando Resort hotels, making the destination feel increasingly closer to normal.

The Superstar Parade

Universal's Superstar Parade rolls through Universal Studios Florida on most nights starting at 7 p.m. The parade features characters from Spongebob Squarepants, Dora, The Secret Life of Pets, Despicable Me, and more.

Some of the floats have been rolled out on an intermittent basis throughout the park since the parade's hiatus began, but it had not run in full since March 2020.

Character Meets

Universal has seen the return of character meet-and-greets at a distance, where guests can interact with characters while still being socially distanced. Though that distance barrier has not been totally removed, guests can now get closer than ever before with a Spider-Man meet-and-greet at Islands of Adventure's Marvel Superhero Island. Located next to the Spider-Man shop, this opportunity puts guests just on the opposite side of a fence from Spider-Man, close enough to hold conversation with the character.
